The landmine is one of the most versatile pieces of gym equipment you can use. It allows you to perform a wide range of movements in a small space, whether it’s attached to a rack or simply set up on the floor.
In this video, I break down 5 key landmine exercises that transfer directly to kayak strength and performance.
Bonus: if you’re reading this, here’s a complete session you can follow alongside the video.
Warm-up
Use this time to practice the landmine movements with light weight. These exercises require coordination and control, so treating the warm-up as skill development will improve both performance and safety.
You can also include your preferred mobility drills and movement prep here.
| Exercise | Reps | Notes |
| Landmine Rotational Lunges | 12 Each side x 2 | Practise this one before adding weight and be conservative |
| Landmine Paddler Rows | 12 each side x 2 | Straps can help if the end of the bar is too round |
| Landmine Floor press | 12 each side x 2 | Practice this one, more of a whole body press as opposed to chest focused |
| Landmine Shoulder press | 8 each side x 2 | More of a prehap exercise for the shoulders |
| Landmine Rotation | 10 each side x 2 | Classic core anti Rotation |
| Kayak Sling rotations | 6 each side x 3 | See other videos |
| Sword Pulls (Sling) | 6 each side x 3 | See other vidoes |
Could also complete this as a full circuit moving through each landmine exercise and completing each circuit 2-3 times.
